Obituary of Marilyn Ida Olson

Marilyn Ida Olson, age 70, of Pacific Junction, IA, formerly of Arpin, WI passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Services will be at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Vesper, WI. Marilyn was born June 4, 1949 in Eau Claire, WI to Ernest and Verna (Weckwerth) Olson. She was four minutes younger than her twin sister, Carolyn. Her father was in the hospital when her mother delivered the twins, he fainted upon hearing the news! Marilyn graduated from high school in Black River Falls, WI. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Bethel Convalescent Center and Edgewater Haven Nursing Home. The family followed their youngest sister to the Omaha, NE area, where Marilyn worked as a mail inserter at First Data Resources. Due to her declining health, Marilyn spent her last years at Regency Rehab in Council Bluffs, IA and Saint Joseph’s Villa Nursing Home in Omaha, NE. She loved to play bingo, work word search puzzles, and listen to visiting musicians, especially Johnny Ray Gomez. Family was of utmost importance to Marilyn. She was quite sentimental and always bought the mushiest of greeting cards. She thoroughly enjoyed sending out annual Christmas cards and sent them to everyone she knew. Marilyn always had fun at Uncle Willis Weckwerth’s house, playing with her cousins and jumped at the chance to go to the casino whenever Aunt Janice came to town. She had a soft spot in her heart for the family pets and did her very best to spoil them. Marilyn is survived by her brother, Larry Olson; her sister, Marcia (Patrick) Whalen; her niece, Lori (James) Carlson; her nephew, Josh Olson; her great-nephew, Brandon Carlson; and her great-nieces, Hailey Olson and Amari Olson. In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her twin sister, Carolyn Olson and her brother, Jeffrey Olson.
