Obituary of Bernadine Catherine Sickinger
Bernadine Catherine (Glaza) Sickinger, 74, of Springfield, IL passed at 9:05 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. The night sky will shine more brightly with the addition of a new angel.
Bernadine was born September 30, 1943 in Stevens Point, WI, the daughter of Nicholas and Clara Lang Glaza. She married Leigh Sickinger on April 30, 1966 in Rudolph, WI.
Bernadine graduated from Rudolph High School, class of 1961. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Dean of the School of Engineering-University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was involved with the Jaycettes including a term as President in Madison, WI, Little Flower Church including St. Therese Guild and School functions in Springfield. Bernadine was always available and ready to help anyone who needed it. She was a loving wife, mother and great friend. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and her metaphysical healing work.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Hartney and Angie Lorenzi; and one brother, Richard Glaza.
She is survived by her husband, Leigh, of Springfield; sons, Brian (Leigh) Sickinger of Dousman, WI, Brad Sickinger of Waukesha, WI, and Matt Sickinger of Springfield; grandchildren, Dulce, Ana, Cassie, Dane, Claire and Lane Sickinger; siblings, Marie (Jerry) Joosten, Paul (Carol) Glaza, Nick (Patricia) Glaza, Andy (Mary) Glaza, Darlene (Ed) Sayre, and Theresa (Chris) Groshek; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Rudolph. Fr. John Swing will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
