Here's my special memories of my dad. Rhonda.
I remember when my sister Sherry and I volunteered to help him paint the picket fence. After painting a few feet of fence, we discovered that it was much harder than we anticipated. We had more paint on ourselves and the grass, but he asked us to finish the job. He taught us good work ethics.
My dad loved baseball. He asked me to play catch with him out in the street. He threw that ball so hard that it STUNG! I never let him know that it really smarted! He played a better short stop than guys who were much younger than him. I was always intrigued at the projects my dad would get involved with. I helped him in the garage, sawing some paneling for our upstairs bedroom. He taught me to be exact with every cut, because I ruined the panel on my first try. Measure twice cut once. I remember how proud i was when he achieved a whole in one on the golf course at the naval base in Virginia. My dad truly enjoyed the Christmas season. I had a friend, paint a wintery scene on the old sled that us kids used. I wrapped it and presented it to my parents on Christmas Eve, and my parents were quite surprised. My dad was a hard working man who loved his family very much. I loved him for putting up with our loud cheerleaders chants and girly things. He brought home rolls of paper from work, for me to make cheer signs. When I gave birth to my first child. His first grandaughter Jenny, he planted a beautiful maple tree in our front yard in her honor which still stands tall today. I remember my dad trying to teach our daughter Jessica how to shuffle a deck of cards. He was good at it! Dad also loved to work with wood. He built a bug barn for our son Justin. They enjoyed catching lightning bugs.
My husband bob loved to take dad on the golf cart throughout the woods. My husband Bob loved to discuss the brewer games with dad.
