Obituary of Doris A. Wesener

Doris A. Wesener, age 93, of Plymouth, WI, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 4, 2020. Doris Ann Wesener (nee Gothberg) was born in Tomahawk, WI, to Oscar and Katherine Gothberg on June 9, 1927. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Irma, WI. She attended grade school in Irma and graduated from Merrill High School in 1945. She attended Evangelical Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Milwaukee, graduating in 1949 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Deaconess Hospital, Johnston Emergency Hospital and, once her children were all in school, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill and Family Heritage Nursing Home in Wisconsin Rapids, now Family Heritage Medical-Rehab Center. She was an accomplished pianist and served the Lord as a church organist for many years at the various congregations where she was a member. Her many hobbies and talents included baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and counted cross-stitch. She met her husband, Rev. Donald O. Wesener in Milwaukee and they were married on June 18, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Barbara (Carl) Nelson of Plymouth, David (Phyllis) of Prairie du Chien, Cynthia (Timothy) Gould of Phillips, and Jonathan (Regina) of Fremont, CA. She is survived by her four children, their spouses, and three grandchildren: Steven Gould of Eau Claire, and Jade and Kai Wesener of Fremont, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents and three brothers: Kenneth (Rosemary) Gothberg, Robert (Sylvia) Gothberg and Donald Gothberg. The funeral service for Doris Wesener will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Interment will take place at the Restlawn Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bethesda Lutheran Communities, Watertown, or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Plymouth and Compassus Hospice Care, Sheboygan for the wonderful care, compassion and support shown to Doris.
