Obituary of Russell N. Kohlman
Russell N. Kohlman, age 81, of Rudolph, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at his residence.
Russell was born July 16, 1938 in Racine, Wisconsin to Norman and ElDonna (Giaczas) Kohlman. Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country for 16 years, first as a Navy Seabee and later in the Army National Guard.
Russell was united in marriage to Alice Plasky on October 16, 1965 at St. John the Baptist Church in Heffron, Wisconsin. They were blessed with nearly 55 years of marriage.
Russell worked for Great Northern/Georgia Pacific for 35 years, retiring as a wastewater treatment operator in July 2000.
Russell was an active volunteer with many local organizations, a longtime member of American Legion Post 485 of Rudolph, and a charter member of the Rudolph Lions Club. He loved instructing youth. He served as a Boy Scout Troup Leader for many years and led three mission trips for his church, First English Lutheran.
Russell’s favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising his chickens. He had a deep and abiding love for his family and especially enjoyed the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Alice; three children: Christine (Robert) Frost, Daniel Kohlman, and Mark Kohlman; six grandchildren: Kyle, Alyssa, Emily, MacKenzie, Nathan and Alezander; five great-grandchildren: Kasandra, Vanessa, Gracelyn, Gabriel, and Everleigh; and his faithful cat “Wilma”. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Stephen and Matthew; his brother, Randy; and his sister, Elaine.
A time of visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Private family services will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered on the funeral home website, www.taylorfuneralhome.net.
