Obituary of Donald E. Ryman
Donald E. Ryman, age 86, of Wisconsin Rapids, went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, November 18, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 beginning at 10:00 A.M until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. Donald was born March 26, 1933 in Janesville, WI to Carmen Ryman, where he was raised by his Grandparents Ralph and Minnie Ryman. In October 1951, Don joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 20 years including the Korean War from 1951 – 1953. During this time, he was stationed in Florida, California and Africa retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant in November 1971. While proudly serving his country, he married Ruth and had three children: Sally, Donald, and Steven. After his retirement, he brought his family back to Wisconsin to be with his numerous relatives. Donald and Ruth enjoyed many years of happiness until her passing in 1983. He found love again when he married Janice Piekarski in 1987.
Donald is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janice; his daughter, Sally; his son, Steven (Erin); his step-sons: James (Diane) Meddaugh, Michael (Kim) Meddaugh, Timothy (Lori Smith) Meddaugh, Daniel (Bonnie) Meddaugh, and Ronald (Kelly) Meddaugh; his grandchildren: Matthew, Ben, Zachary, Cody, Kylee, Brie, Samantha, Tyler, Mia, Caleb, Kaitlyn, and Neala; his great-grandchildren: Tilian, Cove, and Matthew; his sisters-in-law, Carol Alft and Shirley Piekarski; he is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend, Mark Ortscheid. He is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Ruth Ryman; his son, Donald A. Ryman; his step-son, William Meddaugh; and his sister-in-law, Muriel Fix; he is further preceded in death by his brothers-in-law: George Piekarski and Jerry Alft.
