Obituary of Grace Marie Sankey

Grace M. Sankey, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Fancher, WI at a later date. Visitation will take place beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Sunday, November 17, 2019. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net.

Grace was born January 7, 1946 in Stevens Point to George and Bernice (Mandziara) Okray. She graduated from Stevens Point Area High School.  She continued her education in cosmetology, while she worked as a meter maid. In 1983, she married Michael J. Sankey. Grace became a CNA later in life and worked for 25 years taking care of people in a job she loved to do. She was an advocated Catholic woman and attended church at least 3 times a week. Everyone who met her grew to love her and her big smile. Grace spent a lot of time with her wonderful dog, Nadia.

Grace favorite place to visit was Hawaii. She loved cooking, baking, playing cards, and bingo with the people from the clubhouse at her residence. Grace loved elephants and the color purple.

Grace is survived by her children: Logan (Elizabeth) Sankey, and Michael Sankey; 9 grandchildren: Michael, Laila, Ambrose, Margaret, Lilli’Annah, Juliet, Evelynn, Gabbrella, Opal, and her beloved, Nadia. In addition to her parents, Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Sankey.
