Obituary of Arnold W. Engeldinger
Arnold W. Engeldinger, age 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 22, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 30, 2019 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father Jerome Patric will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted after the service. Visitation for family and friends to share loving memories of Arnold will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and also Friday, August 30, 2019 beginning at 10:00 A.M until the time of the service at the church. Arnold was born December 14, 1936 in Colby, WI to Albert and Hedwig (Kaiser) Engeldinger. He served in the army two years after graduation followed by the next 43 years employed at Consolidated Papers. He married the love of his life, Alice Kundinger, on October 16, 1971. They would have been married 48 years on October 16th.
Arnold and Alice were involved in several businesses including building and operating the Skateway Plaza for almost 20 years. The Exit, bar and grill was opened the following year. They jointly purchased and rehabbed properties to rent out or sell for numerous years.
Over the years he enjoyed watching his son's wrestling competitions, documenting every match with pictures. Dancing was his lifetime hobby, including square dancing, country dancing, line dancing, clogging, round dancing, ballroom and Latin dancing. He was an avid roller skater. Gardening became a passion as he maintained his home's extensive yard assisted by his wife, who shared a gardening passion also. Downhill skiing in Michigan and out West became a regular family activity over his lifetime. The family also enjoyed many summer days boating and waterskiing. He was a devoted Packers fan.
Traveling and cruising were enjoyed in his leisure time including purchasing a home in Florida to spend his winters with his wife and regular visits by the family. Florida meant spending time with his grandson, Chase, his pride and joy.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Alice; his children: Tina (Robert) Przybylski, Brenda (Patrick) Davis, Chad Engeldinger: he is further survived by his grandson, Chase Engeldinger. In addition to his parents, Arnold is preceded in death by his brother, Arthur (Josie) Engeldinger and his sister, Bernadette (James) Hauser. He will be missed dearly by his family.
