Tom was born August 4, 1952 in Buffalo, NY to the late Dr. James and Maryann (Mox) Hanlon. When he was younger Tom was notorious for being late for everything. He would walk to school for which he was often late because he would stop and talk to every tree, maybe it’s just he didn’t want to go to school. He married the love of his life, Charlene Rothenberger, on June 16, 1984 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI. They were blessed with 35 years of wonderful memories together and she would marry him all over again.
He loved going fishing with his brothers. He was a huge fan of the Packers and Brewers. Tom had a natural intellect and curiosity for life, he enjoyed learning about history and could be found watching the history channel. He loved animals, especially his dogs Bubba and Louie. Tom enjoyed going with them to the dog park and talking with the people who were always so nice. He was proud of his Irish heritage. Tom was proud of his family and loved spending time with family and friends
Tom is survived by his wife, Charelen: his siblings: James (Pearl) Hanlon, Mary (Robert) Sinnen. Anne Soles, Judy (Robert) Ewers, Mike (Renee) Hanlon, Kathy Hanlon, Tim (Sue) Hanlon, Peggy (Jake) Gudikunst, and Danny (Mary) Hanlon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Hanlon.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Aspirus Riverview Hospital for the loving and dignified care they gave to Tom. The staff would have loved Tom’s sense of humor. Charlene would like to also thank the rest of the family, the “family” at the dog park, and friends for helping her through this difficult time. Your love and support will never be forgotten.
