Obituary of Charles H Nelson
Charles H. Nelson, age 88, of Nekoosa (Town of Rome) died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Woodland Lutheran Church in the Town of Rome. Pastor Margo Peterson will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Spring Branch Cemetery in the Town of Rome, with military honors rendered by American Legion Post 442. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is honored to be assisting the family.
Charles was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 28, 1931 to Clarence and Dorothy (Hornbeck) Nelson. He married Diane Roberg on September 25, 1972 in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
He served his country in both the United States Army and Navy.
Charles owned and operated electro Deburring Company until 1979, when he and his son Scott formed C&S Sales where he was a partner until his retirement in 1997. He also served as Town Chairman for the Town of Rome.
Charles was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, golfing and snowmobiling. He was an active member of Woodland Lutheran Church, Lake Arrowhead Country Club, the Rome Snow Bandits and a member and past president of the Rome Lions Club.
Charles is survived by seven children: Randy (Kathy) Nelson, Nekoosa, WI, Debbie Nelson, Nekoosa, WI, Scott (Mary) Nelson, Nekoosa, WI, Cindy (Tom) Stiedl, Oconomowoc, WI, Pam Miles, Campbellsport, WI, Paula Leissring, Wauwatosa, WI, and Todd (Heather) Nelson, Jackson, WI; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lyle Roberg, Roger (Pat) Roberg, Karen (Jim) Kinsman, and Wendy (Randy) Podolsky; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Diane, daughters, Kari and Mary, and sister-in-law, Marty Roberg.
