Obituary of Doris J. Ort

Doris Jarleen Ort, age 89, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born on October 28, 1929 in Elcho, Wisconsin to Ashland and Beatrice (Sparks) Moore. She worked at Ore-Ida and St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander, Wisconsin before her retirement.

Doris married Robert J. Ort on September 16, 1950. They were blessed with 32 years of marriage, until his passing on July 22, 1982.

Doris was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with all her family. She cherished family gatherings and playing hockey and having nerf wars with her great-grandson Aydan.

She enjoyed trying her luck at Ho-Chunk Casino in Nekoosa. Her favorite games to play were Haywire and Double Diamonds. She liked to listen to country music, especially Charlie Pride. She recently went on vacation with her entire family in May of 2018 to Branson, MO.

Doris is survived by six children: Robbie Ort, Wausau, WI, Sherry (Bruce) Duberstein, Deb (Joe) Fox, Kelly (Ron) Swenson, and Kent (Jamie) Ort all of Rhinelander, WI, and Kim (Tim) Buick, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 13 grandchildren: Robin, Anna, April, Amy, Jodi, Justin, Lucas, Kristin, Shanda, Shania, Riley, Cody and Casey; 13 great-grandchildren: Tony, Danny, Alana, Levi, Jesse, Asia, Hayden, Rhett, Gracia, Colton, Aydan, Rhea, and Joey; and brother, Luther (Bud) Moore.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Ashland and Beatrice Moore; husband, Robert Ort; and brother, Connie Moore.

A private celebration of life will be held per Doris’ wishes.  Burial will be at a later date at the Monico Cemetery. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is honored to be assisting the family.
