Obituary of Tommy Byrnes
Thomas Howard Byrnes “Tommy” passed away peacefully at his home on December 28, 2018 in Wisconsin Rapids at the age of 49.
Tommy is survived by his loving parents, Thomas and Judy Byrnes; his brother, Steven Byrnes; sisters: Julie (Chris) Wolcott and Jennifer (Ethan) Sus; nephew, Steven Byrnes; nieces: Emma Wolcott and Olivia and Madeline Sus; and great-nephew, Patrick Byrnes. He joins in heaven his grandparents: Howard and Emma Kraay and Thomas and Delores Byrnes; great-uncle, Ben Byrnes; nephew, Jeffery Byrnes; and sister-in-law, Diane Byrnes.
Tommy was born on May 28, 1969 in Markham, Illinois. Tommy graduated from Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School in 1987 and later earned a degree in IT from MSTC. Tommy worked for Lutheran Social Services, Consolidated Papers and an online IT service company.
Tommy brought laughter and joy to his family through his amazing sense of humor, sarcastic wit, and intense focus on his interests which included: breakdancing performer, homebrewing beer and specialty coffee with buddies, gardening/horticulture, discovering hidden places and eateries in every city he lived and visited, dabbling in chef capabilities, and conspiracy theorist coupled with debating any current topic.
Tommy was an avid hobbyist his entire life from daredevil ATV riding, toy collector, his love and practice of magic tricks, R/C modeling and competition and his appreciation for tattoo art. He especially loved his “boy” Sharkey and Felix his cat.
Tommy was one of the lucky people who had special life-long friends that were as loved by him as his family. He was married once, remaining friends with his ex-wife Kari. These friends shared experiences with him that when he retold those stories, could always make him smile and laugh, even in tough times.
He will be so very missed by all those that shared in his life.
Our hearts ache at his loss.
A memorial of his life will be planned for a later date.
