Obituary of Eileen G. Scholzen
Eileen G. Scholzen, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Wisconsin Rapids.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Fr. Patric and Fr. Menzel will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2nd at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday at the church. A Rosary Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Spring Branch Cemetery in the town of Rome.
Eileen was born December 6, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to James and Mary (Sheerin) Clark. She married Philip Ziegler. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1986. She married William Scholzen on September 29, 1995 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
Eileen worked as a detention aide at Lincoln High School for several years. She enjoyed being a homemaker, loved to cook and decorate her home, and have family over for the holidays. She took great pride in having a clean yard where everything had its place. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, even while constantly struggling to keep the squirrels away, and took in a pontoon boat ride every chance she could. Eileen enjoyed spending time at the cottage near Galecke Park in Plover and special trips to Hawaii and Branson, Missouri where she saw Danny O’Donnell perform twice.
Eileen is survived by her loving husband, Bill; children: Thomas (Sue) Ziegler, Sauk City, WI, David (Cindy) Ziegler, Wisconsin Rapids, Ruth Ann (Thomas) Hellenbrand, Madison, WI; step-children: Carol (Jim) Wanta, Wisconsin Rapids, Mary (Scott) Sculley, Wisconsin Rapids, John (Mary Ann) Scholzen, Rhinelander, Michael Scholzen, Merritt Island, FL, Betty Scholzen, Wisconsin Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Philip, two brothers and a foster brother.
