Obituary of Diane M. Nelson

Diane M. Nelson, age 79, of Nekoosa (Town of Rome) passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Arborview Court Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Woodland Lutheran Church in the Town of Rome.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church.  Burial will be at Spring Branch Cemetery in the Town of Rome.  Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is honored to be assisting the family.

Diane was born October 9, 1938 in Paynesville, Minnesota to Clarence and June (Pitts) Roberg.  She married Charles Nelson on September 25, 1972 in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Diane owned and operated Diane’s Beauty Shop in the Town of Rome for many years.  She was an active member of Woodland Lutheran Church where she enjoyed being a part of the quilting group and singing in the church choir.  Diane loved to read and was a longtime member of book club, a member of the Red Hat Society and served as treasurer of the Rome Snow Bandits.  She was an avid golfer and a member of the Lake Arrowhead Country Club.  Diane and Charles enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida for many years.

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Charles; nine children: Randy (Kathy) Nelson, Nekoosa, WI, Debbie Nelson, Nekoosa, WI,  Scott (Mary) Nelson, Nekoosa, WI,  Cindy (Tom) Stiedl, Oconomowoc, WI, Pam Miles, Campbellsport, WI, Paula Leissring, Wauwatosa, WI,  Todd (Heather) Nelson, Jackson, WI and Mary Radtke, Nekoosa, WI; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers: Lyle Roberg and Roger (Pat) Roberg; sisters: Karen (Jim) Kinsman and Wendy (Randy) Podolsky; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kari, and sister-in-law, Marty Roberg.
