Obituary of Tanya Lea Getsinger
Tanya Lea Getsinger, age 48, of Yuma, Arizona, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma.
Tanya was born February 5, 1969 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. She was a blessing to her adoptive parents Richard and Selma (Olson) Getsinger as she filled their hearts and home with joy and happiness. Tanya graduated from Nekoosa High School in 1987. She attended Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri where she graduated with a degree in education.
After graduating from Evangel, Tanya took a position as an elementary school teacher in Yuma. While teaching in Yuma, she pursued and obtained her goal of a master’s degree in education. In 2011, Tanya made the decision to change careers and took a position as a Board Certified Activities Professional at Haven of Yuma, a senior living facility. Her role was a perfect fit for her bubbly personality and genuine love of helping people. Her positive attitude spread across the building from residents, coworkers and visitiors. She was always the first one to recognize a coworker for going the extra mile.
Tanya was known for being free spirited and energetic. She saw everyday as a new adventure. She loved to travel to new places both domestic and overseas, going on cruises, camping and hiking. Her love of life and infectious laughter will long be remembered. Tanya was a devout Christian with a deep and abiding love and trust in her Lord Jesus Christ and was very active in her church in Yuma. Tanya’s niece and nephews loved her beyond words. As Marcus and Kellen shared, “Aunt Tanya made everything fun, always making others feel special, energetic and full of life.”
Tanya is survived her parents, Richard and Selma Getsinger; brother, Timothy (Tammy) Getsinger and their children: Gavin (Breanna) Getsinger and their daughter, Lily, Vicky (Trevor) Distasio, Marcus Getsinger and Kellen Getsinger; her dear friend: Rodney Stultz of Yuma, Arizona and his children: Skylar and Zach; and many special aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and brother, Michael Coleman.

“To God be the Glory for giving us the most petite, biggest blue eyed beautiful daughter on this earth. Tanya loved the Lord and gave of herself in helping others in her daily walk with Him.
