Obituary of Edward O'Shasky

Edward P. O’Shasky, age 64, of Rudolph passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Marshfield Medical Center.

Family and friends are invited to attend a life celebration and visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a brief prayer service at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.  Edward was born on March 3, 1953 in Wisconsin Rapids to Edward S. and Lucille (Kempen) O’Shasky. He grew up on the family farm in Rudolph that has been in the O’Shasky family since 1882. Edward was a life-long member of St. Philip’s The Apostle Catholic Church where he was baptized, confirmed, and attended grade school. He attended Assumption High School and graduated as member of the Class of 1971. Edward married Susan Walrath on January 22, 2016.

He was employed by McCain Foods Company for 35 years as a maintenance mechanic. Edward loved thrilling family and friends with fireworks during special events. He could be found cooking over a campfire, using cooking equipment that he had designed. Edward was an outdoorsman, who loved to fish and hunt, and cherished the times that he took his children coon hunting.  Family was his focus and teaching his children and grandchildren life skills was paramount to him. Edward looked forward to his yearly cousins’ trip to Legend Lake in Shawano, WI and the fishing excursion to Bent’s Camp in Boulder Junction, WI. Simply put, he was a sentimental man, who was always up for an adventure.  Edward would do anything for anyone and not expect anything in return. He is loved and will be deeply missed.

Edward is survived by his wife, Susan O’Shasky; his children: Ryan (Mishelle) O’Shasky, Melissa “Missy” O’Shasky, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Kevin Arnold) O’Shasky, Jesse (Matt) Mann, James Walrath, and Jacob Walrath; his siblings: Tom (Diane) O’Shasky, Jacki (Jim) Molepske, Vicki (Ken) Tork, and Don (Rhonda) O’Shasky; his grandchildren: Trevor Mallon, Aria Barrett-Petersen, Kali Petersen, Casey Barrett, Ashlyn Roffers, Cole O’Shasky, Zach Arnold, Blake Arnold, Cassandra (Shane) Haak, Karolann Mann, Logan Mann, John Mann, James Mann, Kira Mann, Kaithlyn Small, James “Oden” Walrath, Edward Walrath, and Aubreyaunna Walrath; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie O’Shasky; his first wife, Katherine O’Shasky; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Danny (Cheryl) Irwin, Kathleen (Frank) Plucinski, Connie Novak, and Gregory Irwin; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Jessica Walrath; his nieces: Jamee O’Shasky and Jenna O’Shasky; and a great-nephew, Tanner O’Shasky.
