Obituary of Eva E. Helke
Eva E. Helke, age 100, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner where a visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Kevin Ader will officiate. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Mausoleum. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
Eva was born January 5, 1917 in the Town of Grant, Portage County, WI to Herman and Anna (Timm) Novack. She was united in marriage to Herbert Helke on June 20, 1940.
Eva was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, reading, fishing “Up North” and listening to music, especially polkas and waltzes.
She worked seasonally at a local cranberry marsh and served on the Election Board in the Town of Grand Rapids. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner.
Eva is survived by a daughter, Marlene (Raymond) Rogers and a son, Marvin (Joan) Helke of Wisconsin Rapids; seven grandchildren: Mark Rogers, Brian (Ann) Rogers, Christine Jacoby, Curtis (Donna) Jacoby, Debra (Gene) Sheets, Keith Kuehl, and Kimberly Helke; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert, daughter Betty Kuehl, grandson Kevin Kuehl, and two brothers, John and Harold Novack.
Memorials may be designated to St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner.
