Andy was always the smart guy with a heart as big as all outdoors. I am forever grateful that we connected again at our 50th high school reunion, for we had a special admiration and deep respect for each other and it is a solace to me that I was able to tell him those things. My thoughts and prayers are with you Selene, and Heidi and Greg, whom I have not met but about whom Andy spoke with such pride. And he spoke of the grandchildren with such joy! It is our gift to have known him.
Andy dove into life head first. He was a man with a big heart who cared deeply for his family, friends, and community. He immersed himself working with others to solve problems, making each part of the world he touched a better place. He was a leader who could handle a frying pan as well as a gavel. He has been a friend to whom I have reached out to confide in and when we parted I left feeling grateful for his thoughtfulness, empathy, and practical insight.
