He graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1953-1956. After discharge from active duty, he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served for 23 years until his retirement from service.
Lawrence was united in marriage to June Schalla on June 29, 1957 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage and the birth of five children.
Lawrence worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, delivering mail in Wisconsin Rapids from 1958 until his retirement in 1997.

He loved any gathering where family and friends were present, especially family camping trips and cookouts. He was an excellent cook, especially on the barbeque grill. He was known to enjoy a cold beer and conversation revolving around history and politics. Lawrence was an aircraft enthusiast, especially military aircraft, and attended several shows at the EAA in Oshkosh. Being a genealogy buff, he was proud of his German heritage, and enjoyed a special 3-week trip with June to Germany to visit relatives after his retirement. Lawrence was very handy and could fix just about anything. He was proud of his country and his service and was honored to participate in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington DC.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, June; five children: Mark (Mariette Meyjes) Heineck of Arizona, Gregory (Kristine) Heineck of Holmen, WI, Pamela (Rick) Jacobson, of Rockford, IL, Bradley (Julie) Heineck of Holmen, WI, and Dorothy (Scott) Howard of Wisconsin Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilbert and Jerome Heineck of Wisconsin Rapids; and a sister, Jane Doan of Green Bay.
