I am so sorry to read about Ethan. Although I did not know him it saddens me others die. Ecclesiastes 9:11 tells us that accidents do happen and can affect anyone. However, God promises that tragedies like this will end (Revelation 21:4). A resurrection to life on a paradise earth will undue the woes of death (Acts 24:15, Psalm 37:29). This is one of the hardest phone calls to get. Ethan and my son, Brennan, were best friends for years. They were "Shaggy and Scooby". These two young men were outgoing and fearless. They loved adventure, cruising listening to music, hiking together, climbing rocks and cliffs, buying new sneakers and snapbacks and just hanging out with their friends. As teenagers and young adults do, they acted like they were invincible. I would often cringe when they would tell me what they did. I would always say a silent prayer when they would go out my door, because of them being so fearless, and tell them to be safe and make good choices. They loved life and had so many plans for the future. Ethan is one of the good ones. Gone way too soon.
He always had cute names for everyone. He was my "Porkchop", I was his "Momma Deb Deb". He would never leave without giving me a hug. He would tease my daughter and call her "Smellyana" instead of Lilliana. Lol! We always laughed about his knicknames. He would write "Shaggy and Scooby" across my kitchen white board everytime he came. These are some of the little things I will miss so much, along with his infectious laugh and smile. He is one of the best people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Such a kindhearted, polite young man with a beautiful heart, whom everyone loved. Him and Brennan are kindred spirits. My sons physical injuries will heal, but he is devastated over losing his best friend. He tried so hard to find him and save him.
My heart goes out to Ethans family. Losing a child is the worst feeling. I can only pray that God will watch over them all and comfort Ethans family during this very difficult time.
