Obituary of Ronald C. Langsdorf

Ronald C. Langsdorf, age 89, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.  Rev. Mary Lou Plummer will officiate.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 9.  Burial will be at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

Ron was born in Wisconsin Rapids on November 4, 1927 to Gerald and Pearl (Dennis) Langsdorf.  He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
Ron married Dorothy Neuman on May 4, 1949 at the Moravian Church in Wisconsin Rapids.  They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and two children, Gary and Linda.

Ron was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. for 35 years and spent most of his time with the company in the Consoweld Division.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman.    He loved to fish, especially for musky, and treasured time spent in the boat or on the shoreline.  He also loved being in the woods pursuing trophy deer, rabbits, squirrels, or just about anything he could hunt.  Deer camp and the cabin in Park Falls were among his favorite places to be.  Ron’s greatest love was spending time with his family and friends, especially when there was a fish fry or shaking dice involved.  He was a huge fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.  He was proud of his military service and was an active member of American Legion Post 9.  He rarely missed an opportunity to participate in funeral honors for his fellow comrades.  Ron was a founding member of the Consolidated Musky Club.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; two children: Gary (LeAnn) Langsdorf of Wisconsin Rapids and Linda (Kevin) Sailer of Wisconsin Rapids; four granddaughters: Amie (Rob) O’Connor of North Carolina, Ashley Sailer (Joe Anderson) of Monona, WI, Danielle Potts of Wisconsin Rapids, and Sara (Andy) Slabosheski of Vesper; and six great-grandchildren: Riley and Kaliegh O’Connor, Naomie Anderson, and Kaitlyn, Abigail and Alaina Potts.  He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Marvin and Gerald Jr.; and a sister, Connie.

Memorials may be designated to the Consolidated Musky Club, 3121 Branwood Drive, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494.
