Obituary of Helen F. Reimer
Helen Frances Reimer, age 97, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
Memorial services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Kevin Ader will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
Helen was born November 1, 1919 in the Town of Rome, Adams County, WI to Anton and Stella (Nobles) Yeager. She married Joseph Reimer on October 14, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1992.
Helen loved children and treasured her family. While she was raising her family, Helen kept a large vegetable garden, did canning, and made homemade jellies. She was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious potato salad. She enjoyed going to the casino and doing crossword puzzles. Helen and Joe were able to spend many years of retirement in Florida. While in Florida, they loved spending time by the ocean and taking walks with friends. Helen also enjoyed going to flea markets and creating crafts out of sea shells.
Helen is survived by her son, Gary (Pam) Reimer of Nekoosa; two daughters: Joan (Jim) Whittaker of Cave in Rock, IL and Nancy (Bob) Gaupp of Nekoosa; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers: Tony (Pat) Yeager of Montana and Kenneth Yeager (Shirley) of Minneapolis; one sister, Jenny Knuth of Wisconsin Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, two children: Thomas Reimer and Mary Ann Manriquez; one granddaughter, Cristie Reimer; one great-grandson, Steve; and four brothers: Glen, George, Howard “Sam”, and Leon “Butch” Yeager.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Heart Association.
