Obituary of Alice Mary Knuteson
Alice M. Knuteson, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Friday June 02, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Alice was born October 2, 1929 in town of Easton, Adams County, WI to Herman and Mary (Olsen) Harmsen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. She married Thomas Knuteson on May 6, 1949 in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 40 years of marriage until his passing on April 15, 1989.
Alice worked at Hotel Mead as a desk clerk, as a customer service representative at Wisconsin Gas for many years, and later volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Shop ever Saturday.
Alice and Tom enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing and boating together and were members of the Rapids Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club and the Central Wisconsin Boating Club. Alice loved to golf and tend to her garden. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing and made her children’s clothes when they were younger. She liked to travel and took her trip of a lifetime to Norway with lifelong friend Marge. Alice enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona and living on Lake Sherwood for many years. She had a love for dogs, especially Cody, Buddy and Foxie.
Alice was a faithful and active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed being part of the church quilting group and serving funeral luncheons.
Alice is survived by her sons: Donald Knuteson and Jeffery Knuteson of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter, Mary Knuteson of Wisconsin Rapids; three grandchildren: Brady Knuteson of Wisconsin Rapids, Danial (Andrea) Huber of Milwaukee WI, and Amy (Jason) Klevene of Wisconsin Rapids; great-grandchildren: Aiden and Sophie Klevene of Wisconsin Rapids; one sister, Helen Tennant of Sun City West, AZ; one brother; Carl (Beverley) Harmsen of Hatfield, WI; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; brothers Harold and Ernie.
