A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and again the day of the service from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at church. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Doris was born December 6, 1930, to William and Mabel (Goldberg) Raasch in Wisconsin Rapids. She married Richard Burmeister on May 11, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. He later passed away on May 24, 2005.
Doris was a very faithful and active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being a member of the church choir since the age of 15, a member of evening guild, and was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. She worked as a playground aide at Howe Elementary School for over 10 years. Doris loved baking and cooking which came naturally to her as her mother worked at Baker Drive Bakery. She also took great joy in her grandchildren and their activities.
Doris was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan, but Doris’s true passion was gardening. One of her favorite spots to be was in her garden in the backyard of her home.
Doris is survived by her loving sons: Douglas and Robert (Lisa) Burmeister, both of Germantown; grandchildren: Ashley (fiancé Matt Detloff) Burmeister, Robert Burmeister Jr., and Kristina Burmeister; sisters-in-law: Dawn Raasch and Phyllis Raasch; and cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; her parents; and her brothers Gordon and Gerald Raasch.
