Barbara was born November 14, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids to Frank and Ethel (Wallace) Johnson.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964 and attended cosmetology school in Milwaukee.  She married Richard Bartley on November 17, 1966 in Chicago.  They were married for 21 years.  Although the marriage ended in divorce, they remained friends throughout the years.

She worked as a cosmetologist at Fashion Beauty Salon in Wisconsin Rapids and other salons throughout the area.  After her career as a beautician, she enjoyed working with children and elders in the community.

A couple of her favorite locations included Sturgis, South Dakota and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Through the years she liked country music, riding snowmobiles, and wearing leather and Harley gear while cruising on a motorcycle. In her spare time, she could also be found watching “her shows,” having her nails manicured, or shopping, especially for shoes.  Barbara was fond of bald eagles, and had many impressive pictures, figurines, and various other items throughout her home.  Other items she loved to collect included family photos, shot glasses, and Native American mementoes.
