Eladia was born September 29, 1964 in Durango, Mexico, to Daniel and Ofelia (Cabada) Diaz. She grew up on a ranch in the village of La Mesa de Návar, in the municipality of Tepehaunes, in the state of Durango. Eladia married Gabino Aguilera and was blessed with two daughters.
Family was the most important thing to her. She took on adult responsibilities starting at the age of 7, by being the caregiver for her ailing parents. Eladia was the “mother” to her siblings at the same time. She worked many jobs, often several at the same time, to make sure her family had what they needed to survive. When you came to visit Eladia, her home became your home. You would be smothered in love and food, especially her homemade cheese enchiladas with red sauce. Eladia put everyone before herself. She enjoyed knitting, reading the Bible, going to the casino, and keeping a safe eye on the young children of the family. She is loved and will be deeply missed.
Eladia is survived by her husband, Gabino Aguilera; daughters: Sandra Isel Aguilera-Diaz and Elizabeth Aguilera-Diaz; mother, Ofelia Diaz; brothers: Ruben Diaz, Adrian Diaz, Gonzalo Diaz, Armando Diaz, Arturo Diaz, and Alonzon Diaz; sisters: Elodia Aguilera, Maria Cavada, and Audelia Parsons; and grandchild, Citlaly Quinones. She is preceded in death by her father, Daniel Diaz.
