Obituary of Johanna A. Roth
Johanna “Jo” A. Roth, age 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Hilltop of Pepper Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 12 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Wednesday at the the funeral home.
Jo was born January 9, 1929 in Dancy, Wisconsin to Fredric and Bertha (Tadewaldt) Schulz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dancy, WI and graduated from Mosinee High School in 1946. Jo married John “Jake” Roth on September 27, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dancy. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage. Jake preceded her in death on December 5, 2013.
Jo was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she served with the Altar Guild, sang in the choir, helped with the Sunday school program, and served as treasurer of St. Luke’s Ladies and Women’s Missionary League. Jo enjoyed pontoon boating and living on the Wisconsin River with Jake for 32 years. They enjoyed sharing time together cutting down trees and creating perfect piles of logs. They also enjoyed dancing with one another to their favorite polkas.
Survivors include three children: Sheri (Richard) Boehme; Jim (Jan) Roth; and Rick Roth, all of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; seven grandchildren: Jason (Lucia) Roth and their son, Ari, Madison, WI; Rick Boehme, Roscoe, IL; Ryan (Eileen) Roth and their children Alana and Hugh, Park Ridge, IL; Ben (Melissa) Roth and their son, Mason, Idaho Falls, ID; Jenny (Jeff Mancl) Roth, Marshfield, WI; Susan (Adam) Krier and their son, Leroy, Marshfield, WI; and Samantha (Nathan) Skifton, Green Bay, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jake, and her brothers and sisters: William Schulz, Ann Roegge, Minnie Hemke, Tressa Hamman, and Frieda Nelson.
Memorials may be designated to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop of Pepper for their wonderful care and concern for Jo during her time with them.
