Obituary of Beverly Ann Fischer
Beverly Ann Fischer, age 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
Family and friends are invited to attend Beverly’s Life Celebration service at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Rudolph Grotto Gardens in Rudolph, WI. Rev. Paul Plowman will officiate. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is honored to be assisting the family.
Bev was born September 2, 1936 in Wisconsin Rapids to Bernard and Gertrude (Hankey) Truman. She grew up in the Wisconsin Rapids area and worked as a dental hygienist and at the Sugar Bowl restaurant. She married Carl E. Fischer on July 5, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage, Carl and Bev purchased their farm in Rudolph where they raised their 6 children, many animals, and made tons of memories. She loved people and wanted to be called “Mom Fischer” by just about everyone. She became well known for her dandelion wine, spaghetti and of course the annual “Christmas Neighborhood Parties”.
Bev started “Country Western Days” in Rudolph to raise money for a new elementary school. She started League Against Nuclear Dangers (L.A.N.D.) when a nuclear power plant threatened to build on the Fischer farm. She also started “Rudolph Country Christmas” in the Village of Rudolph.
Bev’s love for God and gospel music helped form “Gospel’s Heirs”, a country gospel band that traveled and played in churches, malls, prisons, nursing homes, and just about anywhere they could spread the good news of the gospel. Some very precious friendships were formed and are a blessing to this day.
Bev and Carl started working with Carl’s mom, Flora Fischer, at Treasure Attic Antiques and then purchased the business from her and began Fischer’s Antiques in Rudolph. They would say “If you want it, we have it. If we don’t have it, you don’t need it.” Bev enjoyed the business and being around fellow antique collectors. Family and friends were very important to her. She especially enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Bev was well known for her favorite sayings - “Shut the Front Door”, “Jump on My Bonnet”, and a family favorite “I Like Your Hair”.
Bev is survived by her children: Scott E. Fischer, Rudolph, Mark L. Fischer, Rudolph, Robin L. (Rev. Paul) Plowman, Tomah, Penny M. Fischer-Hahn, Wisconsin Rapids, and Joseph (Sara) Fischer, Plover; grandchildren: Benjamin Fischer (Kayla Kingery), Rudolph, Elliot Fischer, Minneapolis, James (Erica) Plowman, Tomah, David (Jennifer) Plowman, Tomah, Jonathan (Amber) Plowman, Suffolk, VA, Rachel Plowman, Madison, Jacob Plowman, Taylor, WI, Jesse Plowman, Tomah, Tommy Plowman, Tomah, Marissa (Bradley) Ziemendorf, Pittsville, Katie Hahn, Wisconsin Rapids, and Madison, Jackson, Elly, and Avery Fischer, Plover; great-grandchildren: Levi Fischer and Rowyn Fischer, Rudolph, and Harper Ziemendorf, Pittsville. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, husband, Carl, her son, John, and her grandson, Andrew Plowman.
The Fischer family would like to thank the staff at Arborwood Lodge, Wisconsin Rapids, Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital-Emergency Department, ICU, and second floor staff for their excellent and tender care of mom and our family during this time. Also, a special thank you to our special friend and respiratory therapist, Cindy Krueger for all of her love and support.
