Obituary of Mabel Westover

Mabel M. Westover, age 90, passed away on February 21, 2017 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital. A private family service will be held in May. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mabel was born on June 17, 1926, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Frank and Joanna (Bushmaker) Jacoby. She married Marvin Westover on July 8, 1944, in Piney Point, MD. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage until his passing on November 14, 1990. Mabel and Marvin owned and operated the Baker Drive Grocery Store for several years. Later she worked as a waitress at Bender Corral and other restaurants in the area. She enjoyed camping with her family at Star lake and Lake Wazeecha. In her spare time Mabel could be found at the local casino playing bingo and slots. She was known for her cooking. At family gatherings she always had to bring her famous potato salad. Her children will always remember their mom being a very caring and compassionate person, although she could be feisty at times. Mabel is survived by her children: Marlene “Judy” (Mike) Williams of Beloit, James “Jim” Westover of Wisconsin Rapids, Deb (Tom) Witt of Nekoosa, Diane (Troy) Miller of Indiana, and Laurie (Scott) Pelzek of White Lake WI; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother: Franklin “Hunce” Jacoby; sisters: Kathyrn Kiefer and Margaret (Donald) Novack, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Joanna Jacoby; husband, Marvin; sister: Gertrude Cumberland; and three brothers: Alvin, Sylvester, and Virgil Jacoby.
