Betty Lou Van Ert, age 77, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 30, 2017 at her residence. Services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. She married Anthony Van Ert on June 20, 1959 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage and two daughters. Betty was employed in the office at Consolidated Papers Inc. and later worked at Kendalls Grocery in Kellner and as a housekeeper at River Run in Wisconsin Rapids. Betty loved to be outdoors. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and fishing partner anyone could ask for. She and Tony spent many summers “up north” in pursuit of trophy musky. They also enjoyed pheasant hunting and salmon snagging together. Betty was an excellent housekeeper. She loved to decorate her home for Christmas and tend to her many flower gardens. She was also an excellent knitter and gave away many handmade dishtowels to relatives and friends. Betty and Tony and their family enjoyed traveling around the Great Lakes. Mackinaw Island and Manistique, Michigan were among Betty’s favorite places to visit. Betty was also an avid NASCAR fan. She kept track of racing news every morning and her favorite drivers Mark Martin and Carl Edwards. Betty is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Chrissy Van Ert (John Mitchell); granddaughter, Kortney (Kyle) Veitengruber; siblings: Fred Miller, Vera Brown, Sandra Beyer, John (Pat) Miller, and Sue Miller; brother-in-law, Joe Van Ert; many nieces and nephews; and a special grand dog, Maddie. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Toni Lynn.
