Obituary of John Stephen Makuski

John S. Makuski, age 65, passed away on Friday January 27, 2017 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. John was born May 25, 1951 in Stevens Point, WI to Bernard and Cathrine (Sigmund) Makuski. He met and fell in love with his significant other Anette Hogan and they have been together for 27 years. John proudly served in the United States Airforce as a firefighter and was stationed in England during the Vietnam War. He was a very caring and compassionate man who loved to joke around. He enjoyed playing the slots at the casino and grilling out in the backyard. In his earlier years he was an avid outdoorsmen who loved to go hunting and camping with his family at Fort McCoy. He also liked to go fishing, his favorite was catching largemouth bass. He was an excellent cook and was known for his homemade pizza on Christmas Eve. John was employed as an auto body technician for several years. During the summers he would help out his sister and brother-in law on their potato farm doing whatever was asked. In his spare time John could be caught watching WWE and cheering on his favorite wrestlers. John is survived by his significant other Annette Hogan, of Rudolph, WI, two daughters; LeAnn(Nick) Helback of Plover, WI, and Sarah Makuski of Stevens Point, WI, three sisters; Jeanette (Melvin) Wiza of Polonia, WI, Lucille Brown of Washington State, and Betty (John) Bielen of Owens, WI, one grandchild; Brook, special sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Audrey Hogan and Richard Sedevic both of Friendship,WI and several other brothers and sisters in law and numerous nieces and nephews and family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Anthony and Alex, and two infant siblings.
