Obituary of Richard W. Rogers

Richard W. Rogers, age 74 of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away at his home on January 22, 2017. A visitation will be held on Wednesday January 25, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will be in Herington, KS at a later date. Richard was born on November 11, 1942 to Wayne and Marion (Scheib) Rogers in Marshfield, WI. He graduated Marshfield High School in 1961. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1971. He married his grade school friend Mary Newmann on September 18, 1982 in Dancy WI. Richard was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt and go fishing with his friends. He enjoyed woodworking and played cribbage. He took several motorcycle trips with his wife and friends and traveled through eight states. Richard and Mary lived in Kansas and New Mexico. While in New Mexico he served on the Honor Guard for four years. He worked as an over the road truck driver for several years. During his years he traveled to all forty eight states and Canada. Richard is survived by his wife, Mary: five children: Craig Rogers, Edwin Rogers, Kenneth Rogers, Christopher (Sandy Ann) Rogers, and Tonya (James) Nieman Jr. grandchildren: Precious, Destinie, Michael, Angela Rogers, Toran and Cassie Nieman: six great-grandchildren, brother, Wayne Rogers and sister Jane (Ron) Nagel. He is preceded in death by his mom and daughter Shelia.
