Obituary of Floyd J. Kauss

Floyd J. Kauss, age 79, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his residence. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Stephen Steinmetz will officiate. Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery in the town of Saratoga. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the church. Floyd was born February 22, 1937 in Rosendale, Wisconsin to Albert and Martha (Jepson) Kauss. He graduated from John Edwards High School in Port Edwards and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1958-1967. He married Alyce Woodward on July 16, 1960 in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage and two children. Floyd was employed by Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company, later Georgia Pacific in the Port Edwards mill as a quality control technician until his retirement. Floyd was a high school athlete, and played football, basketball and track and field. He also played band in high school and at UWSP. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Floyd loved history and thus most of the vacations he went on involved visits to historical sites and presidential libraries. Washington D.C. was his favorite place to visit and he took several trips there with his family. Floyd was a proud Eagle Scout and his scout leaders were among the most influential people in his life. He was a very patient, kind, and loving man with a deep and abiding faith in his Lord. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids and served as church treasurer did the youth prayer breakfast for several years. Floyd is survived by his wife, Alyce; children: Deborah (Eric) Waldkoetter of Zionsville, IN and Jeff Kauss (Bobbi Jo Chadwick) of Port Edwards; grandchildren: Haley Waldkoetter of Fishers, IN and Holly Waldkoetter of Bloomington, IN; two sisters: June (Melvin) Kuehl of Eagle River, WI, and Diane (Richard) Bloemers of Brown Deer, WI; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jack, father and mother-in-law, Orville and Martha Woodward, and brother-in-law Leroy Woodward. Floyd’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. De Las Alas, Dr. Garde, Dr. Kirschling, Mary Merdan, Mary Schwanabeck, the special nurses, lab tech and receptionist at UW Cancer Center-Riverview, and Ministry Home Care Hospice for the wonderful care they gave. Also a special thank you to our families, Pastor Stephen Steinmetz and the Faith Baptist Church family, neighbors and friends for the prayer and support along the way.
