Obituary of Ingrid S. Marti

Ingrid S. Marti, age 100, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Cranberry Court in Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Ingrid was born in the town of Sigel, Wood County, WI on September 16, 1916 to Lee and Mathilda (Jacobson) Anderson. She married Harold Marti in October 1938. They were blessed with 34 years of marriage and seven children. He preceded her in death in November 1972. Ingrid worked for several area businesses over the years including Preway and McMillan Library where she was employed until her retirement. Ingrid lived a long and full life and was able to stay in her own home from 1947 to 2012. She never had a driver’s license, but would walk to work and to church. She was a skilled seamstress, a great cook and baker and loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Ingrid was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading non-fiction books, especially on the topics of healthcare and nutrition. She loved watching the birds and other wildlife and gave to many outdoor charitable organizations. Ingrid liked playing slot machines and bingo. She enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas and during one of those trips she flew into the Grand Canyon on a small plane. Ingrid loved her family and cherished family reunions and Christmas time when she would bring bags of gifts for her grandchildren. Ingrid is survived by six children: Dennis Marti, Las Vegas, NV, Daryl (Debra) Marti and Douglas (JoAnn) Marti, Wisconsin Rapids, Marlys (Donald) Jacobi, Grand Rapids, MI, Maxine Marti, Oregon, WI, and Janean (Edward) Krumbiegel, Caddott, WI; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, son, Dale, grandson, Barry Roberts, and three brothers: Arvid, Ewald and Leonard Anderson.
