Obituary of Bobby Joe Long

Bobby Joe Long, age 59, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his residence following a house fire. Services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net. Bob was born July 25, 1957 in Wisconsin Rapids to John and Jane (Adams) Long. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975 and earned an associate's degree in business from Mid-State Technical College. Bob served his country in the Army National Guard. Bob had several jobs over the years in the Wisconsin Rapids area. He worked at the Labor Temple, was a longtime employee at Ore-Ida, and most recently worked for Infinity Foods in Plover. Bob was a very fun-loving, laid back person with a huge heart. He loved spending time with his family, especially hanging out with his nephew, Jake, niece Jessica and great nephew, Cayden. Four Stools and Somewhere Else were among his favorite local hangouts to have a beer and catch a Packers game. He also loved to spend time at the library, especially for Monday Night Movies, and attending events put on by Incourage. Bob was a bit of a food critic and really enjoyed Friday night fish fries at various local venues. Bob is survived by his sisters: Linda (Dennis) Kennedy of Lodi and Donna Long (Jeff Pierce), Wisconsin Rapids; brother, David (Wendy) Long, Nekoosa; nieces and nephews: Adam Testerman, Los Angeles, CA, Ashley (Joe) Graves, Oconto, Jessica Long (Justin Lalande), Wisconsin Rapids, Jacob Cornwell, Wisconsin Rapids, and Megan Long, De Forest; great-nephews: Cayden Long, William Graves and Robert Graves; and a special aunt and uncle Florence Adams and Robert Adams; and special friend Jani. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-dad, Ornie "Tom" Pickett.
