I remember working a summer on the marsh for Mr. & Mrs Jasperson. He was a great teacher of the tasks we needed to perform and both he and his wife were always kind and wonderful examples of how one should conduct themselves. They always seemed to be smiling.
I learned a lot about growing cranberries that summer and the knowledge gained has been shared with many folks in Texas who know nothing about where cranberries come from or how they are grown and harvested.
I will retain many fond memories of Newell and all of the family who I know and went to school with. May the joy that comes with love given and love received be upon this family now and always. Please accept my sincere sympathies for your loss.
My sympathies go out to the Detlefsen family, Guy, Jo Ann, Robert and Kristen. I know how close you all are as a family and I know that the children will miss their grandfather terribly. I am sure he was very proud to know his marsh would be left in such capable hands as Robert and Kristen. God Bless you all.

Just want to express my sympathy with passing of Newell,he was a customer of mine starting back in 1984.One dump truck red,one blue and one white all GMC's.It was a real please to stop by and see him or visit at a Cranberry Show.I feel very fortunate to have know Newell and for what he stood for,he was a great man in my book and created a great Legacy
