Obituary of Shirley Rose Kofnetka

Shirley Rose Kofnetka, age 86, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care. Services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Shirley was born September 16, 1930 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Louis and Violet (Schroeder) Van Weddingen. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1948. She married Richard “Polack” Kofnetka on September 10, 1949 in Waukegan, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2012. Shirley was employed by Zwicker Knitting Mills in Appleton until her and Richard moved to Wisconsin Rapids. Shirley’s favorite pastime was reading. She belonged to a book club for over 70 years. She also enjoyed animals and watching wildlife, especially deer. She was a very generous person and donated to many of the charities who sent requests to her. Shirley is survived by two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also mourning her passing are her extended family members: Annette and Bill Gadow, Brian and Beth Gadow, Kasey and Jared. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: James and Gerald.
