Obituary of Robert Allen Kawalske

Robert Allen Kawalske, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Services will be 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is assisting the family. Robert was born February 12, 1938 in Marshfield, WI the son of Alfred and Grace (Jantz) Kawalske. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a master's degree in education. Robert lived in Wausau, WI for 35 years and taught at John Marshall Grade School for 33 years. He was very dedicated to the teaching profession. After retiring from teaching, Robert moved back to Wisconsin Rapids. Robert was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids where he enjoyed regularly attending the Wednesday night service. Robert was a very compassionate, caring and intelligent person and the family "Rock". He enjoyed traveling to Fort Meyers, Florida where he would take long walks on the beach. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed going for walks around Lake Wazeecha and tending to his yard and flower gardens. Robert collected antiques and went to many garage sales in search of new treasures. He also enjoyed attending performances at the Grand Theater in Wausau and many activities with special friends. Robert is survived by one brother, Al Kawalske of Plover; two sisters: Patricia (Joe) Ostrum and Carla Kutella, both of Wisconsin Rapids; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lanna Kawalske, nephew Chad Kawalske, step-nephew Wade Ostrum, and brother-in-law John Kutella.
