Obituary of Irma Haferman
Irma M. Haferman, 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Sigel. Rev. Douglas Schalow will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Thursday at St. John?s Lutheran Church.
Irma was born in Wisconsin Rapids on August 24, 1927 to Frank and Lena (Reber) Haferman.
She worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. in the finishing room for 27 years until her retirement.
Irma was an active member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Sigel where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Lutheran Women?s Missionary Leaugue. She loved to write letters and always kept in touch with family. She was a family caregiver and had a special place in her heart for the children. Her caring for others also led her to volunteer at Edgewater Haven and Strawberry Lane nursing homes for many years.
Irma is survived by one brother, Edward Haferman, Wisconsin Rapids; three sister-in-laws: Edna Haferman, Wisconsin Rapids, Joyce Haferman, Onalaska, and Shirley Haferman, New Berlin; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Herbert, Alvin, and Leslie; and three sisters: Irene, Viola, and Edith.
Memorials may be designated to Lutheran Women?s Missionary League.
