Loren,I was so sad to read this. I can only imagine how much you'll miss her because you could truly tell how much you loved her and she loved you. It was always "me and momma" were going here or there. She was a saint for putting up with you (just had to say that hoping it might make you smile)! Our neighborhood has lost a generous and kind person and will be deeply missed. We met her 36 years ago when she welcomed us to the neighborhood with one of her homemade angel food cakes. So true to her nature. Our journey together began that day. So many wonderful memories of camping and weekend get-aways. We miss you, Janet!

I first knew Jan as a mother of one of my first graders. I remember telling her at conferences that one of her boys was having trouble with handwriting and told her jokingly that maybe he should learn how to type. Later as school secretary she was always there to help anyone and everyone.

Jan was a kind friend, a smart and funny lady and an AMAZING secretary. We all knew who really ran the school! Jan touched so many lives...students and staff. We grieve for her family who loved her. We grieve for our Mead School family who lost an anchor. Love you forever, Jan. Thank you for being an angel here on Earth. Miss you much. God bless your family as they celebrate your life and wish you were still here with us.

So sorry to hear Jan has lost her earthly battle, but know she has won her heavenly home. I loved visiting with her everyday as I waited for my class to begin. We shared many a laugh. Although I've been retired for 11 years, I have never forgotten those times. God's peace to your family.

Jan took such good care of my boys at Mead. They could always go to her with tummy aches and asthma trouble. She always knew when they were really sick and when they should just go back to class. I think she invented multi-tasking in the Mead School office. She wore so many hats. I was blessed to work with her and blessed to have her calm presence in our lives. Such a loving example to us all. She will be sorely missed.

Miss Jan was Dr. Mom for so many of us (and our kids) for so long. I will treasure our lunch time conversations, the year she was my secret Santa with all the recipes (and turtle cheesecake!), and how proud we both were when she successfully taught me how to do purchase orders! I smile thinking of her laugh when she was really rolling and of all our happy times in the office... Singing chicken telegrams, tongues stuck to freezing flag poles, and all of those things we should have put in the memory book. Beautiful memories of a beautiful friend.

Jan was such a kind and faithful friend. She taught me so much when I started at Mead. She had so much common sense and integrity. I could always count on her for a laugh when I needed one. In an emergency she was cool and calm. She and Nancy seemed like they could handle anything. I will miss her laughter and her counsel. My prayers are with you all. I am happy to have known her and had her as a friend.
