Obituary of Barbara Lowell

Barbara J. Lowell, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her residence. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 28 at First English Lutheran Church. Rev. Joyce Heintz will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of services at the church on Saturday. Barbara was born May 28, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Leona (Oligney) Brown. She worked as a secretary and later as a rate analyst for CW Transport in Wisconsin Rapids until her retirement. Barbara was a strong woman who valued her independence. She loved being with family and friends and was an avid sports enthusiast and golfer, accomplishing the rare hole-in-one three times. Barbara is survived by her son, Jerry (Brenda) Lowell of Wheaton, IL; grandson, David Lowell of Glen Ellyn, IL; and granddaughter, Alison Lowell (David Plylar) of Silver Springs, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Barney Lowell, and brother, George. Memorials may be designated to the Helping Hands Gospel Mission for the homeless. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family.
