Obituary of Thomas E. Krenz

Thomas E. Krenz, age 71, Town of Rome, WI, died early Tuesday morning, March 04, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 7th at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Paul Tonn will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Spring Branch Cemetery in the Town of Rome. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 6th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the church. Thomas was born in Milwaukee, WI on November 14, 1942 to Emil and Mildred (Neitzel) Krenz. He married Mary Rose Ratzow on September 10, 1960 in Milwaukee at the Capital Drive Lutheran Church. They continued to reside in Milwaukee until moving to the Town of Rome in 1976. Thomas began his working career for Canteen Vending Company in Milwaukee and was later employed as an independent insurance agent in the Wisconsin Rapids area until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and several of their Bible study groups, the Rome Lions Club, and the Rome Volunteer Fire Department. Thomas loved taking care of his family and had a major role in the building of his daughter's daycare center. He was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan and enjoyed turkey and deer hunting and bird watching. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary; three children: Christy (David) Poffinbarger, Stevens Point; Donn (Becky) Krenz, Wisconsin Rapids; Dann (Wendy Fisher) Krenz, Town of Rome; eight grandchildren: Kendra (Scott) Cychosz; Jessica (Travis) Bittelman; Charys (Tim) Hess; Joshua Krenz; Jenna Krenz; Lisa Krenz; Javan Krenz; Lindsey Krenz; four great-grandchildren: Xander Hess, Odyn Hess, Elyse Hess, and Tanner Bittelman; one brother: Timothy (Renee') Krenz of Germantown, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Brian Krenz, and great-granddaughter Ariyanna Hess. Memorials may be designated to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
