In 1964, I graduated with Mike at Ashland High School. I may have not seen him since high school (I missed some reunions), but I was blessed to read of his service to our country during the Vietnam War; this was a tough assignment for our soldiers and those who said "yes" deserve our gratitude and admiration. Kathy , Sons and Family, we were stunned and deeply saddened to learn of Mike's passing. As fellow Wood Creek seasonal residents and freinds of Mike, we understand completely the love Milke had for going to the "shack" to hunt,fish and relax. It has been our privilege to have shared stories with Mike over a beverage or a meal at one another's shacks over these many years. All the guys from Wood Creek will agree that our friend Mike was a kind and generous man who was always there when a helping hand was needed, but we know this from personal experience. More than once, when we found ourselves in a hard spot, Mike came cheerfully to the rescue, sometimes bringing along men and equipment. For those times we will be forever grateful, but even more grateful that we knew him, and became some of his Wood Creek pals. God Speed Mike. Kathy, Ed and family,
Mike was one of my supervisors many years ago. So much good and not so good happened while he was working at the Kraft Mill as it was called then. Kathy, I'm sure you can remember a few drinks shared with various other employees after a shift was over. Not so much myself, but others. Many stories were passed around.
I do remember my last encounter with Mike and Kathy - it was at IGA here in WR a few years ago and your grandchild was with you. I could see the happiness in Mike's eyes as he talked.
Remember those happy times and share the memories.
