Obituary of Jack Dale Luedtke
Jack D. Luedtke, 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2016 at Lighthouse of Sun Prairie in Sun Prairie, WI.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Monday, September 26, 2016 at United Methodist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Pastor Joshua Pegram will officiate. Graveside services will follow, with full military honors at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Jack was born in Wausau, WI on April 18, 1933 to Edna Luedtke. He was united in marriage to Jean Buchberger on June 11th, 1960 in Madison, WI.
Jack was in the United States Navy aboard the USS Des Moines from 1953-1956. He received the Navy Good Conduct medal, Navy Occupation Service medal and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Jack received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1960. While in school Jack worked at the State Capitol as a page in the State Senate. In his earlier years he worked for American Can and Oscar Meyer. In 1966, Jack started working at Consolidated Papers and worked at several different divisions, finally retiring from Paperboard Products Division as a Production Manager. Besides heading south to Florida during the winter for many years, he also traveled through most of Europe, Austria, Italy and Germany. Jack loved to be outdoors either musky and walleye fishing, deer hunting, skiing in the U.P. or boating with his family. He also liked to watch the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Jack enjoyed being around people and was on a golf league for many years and loved to play cards (cribbage, poker and sheepshead) with his buddies. He also enjoyed his daily trips to the grocery store, making many new friends around the community and brightening people's day with a quick joke.
Jack is survived by his three sons: Craig (Pam) of Waunakee, WI, Brian (Karen) of Barrington, IL and Scott (Shelley) of Sun Prairie, WI; seven grandchildren: Danielle, Brandon, Kate, Hannah, Jayme, Conner and Hailey; two brothers: John (Rose) Rogalla of Marseilles, IL and Rodney (Louise) Rogalla of Wausau, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife: Jean and his mother: Edna.
