We had a beautiful day of celebration yesterday! To remember a life like Jean's was a joy for us... it began with a gathering time at 1pm, before the Memorial Service, meeting so many of Jean's good friends and our family from around Wisconsin. Then we celebrated in church the Greatest of all persons, our Redeemer, Saviour and Friend, Jesus Christ! Jean's relationship with our Heavenly Father, through Christ, was seen in many ways in her life. It was a beautiful time of remembrance. The songs were lovely and Mary & Carol (& Julienne on violin for Amazing Grace) ministered beautifully in their areas of talent... remember Jesus told use to use them for Him and He will mulitipy! Thank you! Gail and Ray read a scripture reading and Pastor Bill Menzel shared a wonderful homily. The reception following was very nice, and it was a joy to me to meet so many of Jean's good friends. Thank you ALL for coming. I enjoyed seeing some of my childhood neighbors and relatives too. God bless you all! I believe my sister would be pleased with the respect an love in which we honored her life. John 10:10-Jesus gives true LIFE!, and that abundantly! "Thank you Lord, for all you've done!" Amen.

I am a member of Central Wisconsin Network and I knew Jean for at least 20 years. I enjoyed talking to Jean at CWN dances and golf events. Jean would talk about going on trips with her grandkids and how fun it was.Jean always took an interest in everyone she talked too and always had a great smile. I really enjoyed golfing with Jean as she was very competitive. We had a lot of great conversations on the golf course.
Jean will be missed by everyone.
My condolence to Jean's entire family.

Jean putting her boat in for her first trip down the Plover River. Little did she know that five minutes later she would be soaking wet. I teased her and said, "Baptized by fire, Jean?" She laughed and said, I wouldn't exactly call it fire, Gail!" ha ha

Jean was a wonderful friend. She introduced me to CWN, and we played bridge together often. She was a much better golfer, so we did not golf together. But she encouraged me to keep playing. Jean's home and garden were beautiful, and she was always happy to share them. I will miss this gracious lady! Marsha Pfingsten

Thank you Sharon for sharing this... I am learning of how greatly she'll be missed by so many of you! Looking forward to hearing more at the reception from so many that loved her too! Her life was so uch of what's said here, she always cared about the "least of these...". I remember our mother instilling that in us.

I sent this poem to Nancy, Jean's sister and she suggested that I share it here. Its called: Not, How Did She Die, But How Did She Live. The author is unknown.
Not how did she die, but how did she live?
Not what did she gain, but what did she give?
These are the units to measure the worth
of a woman as a woman, regardless of birth.
Not, what was her church, nor what was her creed?
But had she befriended those really in need?
Was she ever ready, with word of good cheer,
to bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
but how many were sorry when she passed away.
Till we meet again, my friend.
May God be with you.

I am so looking forward to meeting many of you, Jean's friends, after her Memorial Service at St. Lawrence on October 30. We hope you will come to the reception in the parish hall so we can meet you all. My four brothers, my sister-in-laws and I will be there and would love to hear about some of the happy times you shared with Jean.
She was a wonderful sister and I so enjoyed my time with her. I miss her but I also know that God is good all the time and grief and loss is part of this world. But in Heaven it will be no more! (Rev. 21:4). God's blessings to you!

"Jean and I knew each other since high school. Back then, we were both ready to drive stock cars in the Powder Puff race one night at the track owned by Sam Bartus on Griffith Avenue. My car was smashed beforehand, but Jean's was okay and she raced and won!! Go figure.
After we were married we were busy raising our kids, but did bowl and went to tournaments. Whenever we saw one another, we would pick up right where we left off as if no time had passed at all. Jean was a competitive force and we were glad she was on our team!
Jean loved all sports and was so skillful in everything she tried - bowling, golf, cards, kayaking, etc., but always had time for friends, family and especially her grandchildren. Jean home-schooled Ray and Julia, her grandchildren, for five years! She was one of the most giving people I knew. I was so happy to learn that Ray shared with Jean how grateful he was that she was such a big part of his life. I'd like to meet both you and Julia as she loved you so much and you obviously were such an important part of her life.
Recently, I introduced her to our friend, Darrel, We had the opportunity to meet up with them from time to time for dinner. Jean was as pretty as he is handsome.
I pray for Jean everyday and send condolences to the family. Jean was such a classy lady who didn't seem to have time to age. I will miss her, but will treasure all the fond memories.

I was so surprised and sadden to here about Jean's sudden passing. When we moved out to her neighborhood and got to know Jean, it was a blessing to us. Jean was always so friendly and vivacious and we enjoyed visiting together and saving up the mail and newspapers for each other when one of us was gone on a trip. Jean often had her grandchildren over and enjoyed their times together, as well as traveling, gardening and activities with her friends. We were blessed t get to know Jean and she was a great neighbor. She will be missed by many. Our condolences to her family.

Jean and I share many memories going all the way back to Ist grade. We enjoyed many sleep-overs at my parent's home while growing up, shared teen secrets in high school, double dated in young adulthood , married and vacationed together with our children at Jean's cottage up north. Our latest adventure was a wonderful trip to Italy. We attended many class reunions together, and I will sorely miss her when the next one rolls around next year. Please accept my heart-felt sympathy at her passing. Shari Stangl

Classy Lady is how I will always remember Jean. She always had a warm smile, looked her best and was upbeat & happy! I got to know Jean thru the Central Wisconsin Singles Network where she enjoyed dancing and the Roving Golfers events. She was a tough card player as I remember also. I will miss her class and style and warm personality. She shared many of her joys with spending time with her grandchildren. May her family be assured by the peace & promises that we will be rejoined together again. Safe travels my friend.

I met Jean through the Central Wisconsin Network organization and then got to know her better with our Roving Golfers Club. I always had the goal in the back of my mind of beating her on the golf course but she was so good at the game it never happened! I will always remember her smiling face and kind spirit. I talked to her that morning at the course so it's hard to believe she is gone. Tell your friends and family how much you love and appreciate them, you might not have a second chance. I'll be practicing here Jean for a round of golf with you some day!!

I first met Jean about 15 years ago when we both went to take bridge lessons at the Lowell Senior Ct. (before we were senior citizens). Jean and I started the Friday Morning bridge club, which is still going on. You had to love her fierce competive nature, whether it was bridge or golf. But, what I admired Jean mostly for was the way she wrapped her arms around home schooling and sharing her Catholic faith with her grandchildren, Ray and Julia!!! She gave up her life to devote all her time and efforts to them! What a gift! R.I.P dear friend.......Sending my sympathies to all of Jean's family....

Jean was my best friend. I have know Jean for 35 years and our paths crossed many times. We both lived on Biron Drive as well as 10 Mile Avenue at the same time. It was Jean who introduced me to my husband. I will miss her sparkle, laughter, compassion and good conversation. Jean was a lady of grace who took pride in all that she did. I will miss you dearly, my friend. My condolences goes out to Jean's family for their loss. Jean knew the Lord and a time will come when our paths will cross again.

There are so many good memories I have to share about Jean, it would take up most of the page. I was talking to her at 7:30 a.m. the morning of our golf outing at Wisconsin River and reminding her of our tee time and she needed to make sure she was there early. She said if she wasn't spending so much time on the phone talking to me she would have her hair half curled already! ha ha. Later at the course, she said she needed some short tees, but we were already in our carts. I said never mind, I had plenty of short tees for her. When she got up on the tee box she asked me for the short tees and I handed her a bunch of my long tees. She said, these are not short tees Gail, I should have gone and got some. I said, Oh yes they are Jean, you can make them as short as you want, -- Just shove them in the ground farther. She looked at me and said, "Duh!" and we laughed.
