Obituary of Gregory P. Jensen

Gregory P. Jensen, age 66, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on November 8, 2015 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the church. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 9 and Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors. Gregory was born May 31, 1949 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Lloyd and Mary (Grabowenski) Jensen. After Mary's sudden death in 1950, Lloyd later married Inez Schwensen. Gregory served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1972. He married Joan Doyle in 1976. They were blessed with a daughter, Nicole. He married Kathi Karner on June 10, 1983. They were blessed with two daughters, Brittany and Brooke. Gregory is survived by Kathi Jensen; three daughters, Brittany (J.P.) La Chapelle and Brooke Jensen, of Wisconsin Rapids and Nicole Jensen of Maplewood, Minnesota; three brothers: Richard (Shelby) Jensen, Ken (Jackie) Jensen, and Larry (Leanne) Jensen; and two sisters: Cathy Danielowski and Ruth (Ken) Grieger. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepmother. Gregory was a loving father and grandfather. He was very hard-working and took great pride in providing for his family. He was a skilled carpenter, and he volunteered his time and talents to help people in his community as well as family and friends. Gregory was a faithful member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids where he served as an elder. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family.
