Obituary of Philip Alan Pagels
Philip Alan Pagels, age 63, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 9 and Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors following the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 15 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Phil was born on December 11, 1952 in Wisconsin Rapids to Harold and Evelyn (Berg) Pagels. He married Kristin Matthews on June 11, 1993 in Wisconsin Rapids.
He was very proud of having served his country in the United States Army and later in the United States Army Reserves.
Phil was employed as a sheeter operator at the converting plant at the Wisconsin Rapids paper mill for 39 years.
Phil was a very caring and loving man. He loved spending time fishing and being on the water with his wife Kris and riding his motorcycle. Phil and Kris spent many weekends at their camper up north on Solberg Lake. Phil liked gardening, especially growing tomatoes and asparagus. In earlier years, Phil enjoyed pheasant and ruffed grouse hunting. He loved his dogs, and affectionately called them his "Girls".
Phil is survived by his wife, Kris; two brothers: James (Julia) Pagels of Laughlin, NV and Dennis (Robyn) Pagels of Grove Town, GA; brothers-in-law: Tony Kielpinski of Kenosha, WI and Bruce Gorden of The Villages, FL; special niece, Cindy (Mike) Buttke of Wisconsin Rapids; his "Girls": Kayla Mae and Kelsey Mae; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Janice Kielpinski and Diane Gordon; and his "Girls": Mariah, Maggie Mae, Hannah Mae and Abbie Mae.
Phil's family would like to thank Dr. Bailey, Dr. Mukerji, and Dr. Ferreira, Kay Shawbitz and CCU nurses: Gail, Bonnie, Terry, Pam, Ashley and Monica for the outstanding care and compassion they gave Phil and for the comfort and compassion given to Kris.
