Obituary of Gertrude Holberg

Gertrude "Trudy" Holberg, age 90, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Murray, Kentucky where she had been a resident for the past four years. Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Dan DeRoche will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Trudy was born on August 24, 1925 in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Paul and Emma (Hamann) Schwandt. She was raised on her family farm and had many wonderful memories and stories about her childhood. Trudy married Arthur H. Holberg in June, 1947 in Wisconsin Rapids; the couple was blessed with 47 years of marriage. Her busy life included being a homemaker as well as working in the office for Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company. In later years Trudy worked for Wisconsin Rapids School District in the cafeteria. Trudy loved being around children, they always brought a smile to her face. Trudy is survived by her three sons: Paul (Fran) Holberg, Gary (Heidi) Holberg, and Ron (Shelby) Holberg; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, parents, brother Albert and sister Margaret Latourelle.
