Obituary of Alan Richard Brunker
Alan Richard Brunker, age 72, of Janesville, WI, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Janesville on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
Alan was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin on July 29, 1943 to Adrian and Catherine (Mc Tigue) Brunker and grew up on a dairy farm near Almond. He attended rural elementary schools in the Almond School District and graduated from Almond High School where he excelled in sports. Alan furthered his education attending the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and graduating from Wausau Technical College with an associate's degree in electronics. As an electrical technician, he was employed in New London, WI, Dubuque, IA, and Wisconsin Rapids where he established and ran Color Check T.V. Service for over 30 years.
Alan married Kathleen Yeager on February 23, 1963 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage and four children: Jean, Jim, Michael and Andrew.
Alan loved interacting with people and was very active in both the Wisconsin Rapids and Janesville communities. He was very involved and served in varying capacities with Saints Peter and Paul Parish and School, Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids and with St. John Vianney Parish in Janesville where he volunteered for Second Harvest Food Bank.
Alan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting with Bill Brunker and family, fishing in northern Wisconsin and golfing. He was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan, most of the time. Alan was extremely proud of his Irish heritage. He was blessed to be able to visit Ireland with his wife Kathy and his cousin George and Claudia Porter.
Alan is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: Jean (Scott) Knickelbine, James (Kelly) Brunker and Andrew (Erica) Brunker; grandchildren: Ben Lownik, Joseph Brunker, Christopher Brunker, Patrick Brunker, Emily Brunker, Aidan Brunker, and Mary Kate Brunker; as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary and son Michael Brunker.
Visitation will be held at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 15, with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1245 Clark Street, Janesville. Monsignor Don Heier will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will also be held on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church in Janesville.
