Obituary of Gary Joe Martin

Gary Joe Martin, 63, of Wisconsin Rapids passed peacefully on October 1, 2016 at home. A Celebration of Gary's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Antler Archers, 8720 Deer Road, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Gary was born in Mauston, WI on February 24, 1953 to Joseph and Elaine (Yoss) Martin. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. After high school he worked for his dad (Smilin' Joe) at Schierl Tire and later went to work at the local paper mill for 38 years until his retirement. Gary married Debra Foth on September 6, 1975. They were blessed with forty-one years of marriage and one son. Gary was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt with his beloved son Chris and friend Rusty. He was a sports fanatic who loved the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Wisconsin Rapids Wrestling. Gary took part in the Walleye Club, Matbackers and was the treasurer of Antler Archers. He loved his home in Buffalo County and all his friends and family who came to visit. Gary is survived by his wife: Debra; mother: Elaine Martin; son: Christopher (Heather) Martin; two grandchildren: Aubrie and Colton; three siblings: Jerilyn (Jim) Anderson, Greg (Brenda) Martin; Jon (Donna) Martin and many nieces, nephews and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his father: Joseph Martin; grandparents: James and Demi Martin, William and Sylvia Yoss; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Rudy and Carol Foth.
